Virtuozzo creates isolated, secure virtual environments on a single physical server enabling better server utilization, ensuring guaranteed resources and preventing applications from conflicting. Each VDS performs and executes exactly like a stand-alone server; VDSs can be rebooted independently and have users, IP addresses, processes, system libraries and configuration files. Unlike Hypervisor based systems, Virtuozzo allows all of the Virtual Machines on a physical server to share one underlying operating system. This makes much more efficient use of the physical infrastructure. Virtuozzo adds very little to native applications and operating system performance, ranging from 1-3%. Because the virtualization is done at the Operating System level, rather than at hardware level we only need a single operating system license which makes this the lowest cost solution, especially when it comes to Windows licensing. |
